Awakening

Hi all!

Wow! It has been a while. Part of the reason is that I have become very busy with my wonderful family and new job. The other reason is that for about 3 months I have not seen a gym more than 2-3 times. Doesn't sound like me does it?

Well, I can say that starting today, I am back! And I need some help along the way. I am guessing some of you do as well. It is important to stay connected to the people that make and help you achieve your goals.

This week I did a 3 day cleanse. It was seriously one of the hardest things that I have done to challenge my own discipline. 3 months isn't a long time but it is just long enough to form really bad habits. Now I am climbing out of that pit into new and familiar lifestyle changes. And today, I finally put all excuses aside and went to the gym! I felt like Happy Gilmore was my conscious saying, "go to your home ball!" And the home was my gym! Success! I made it. I just needed a little "tappy."

“A single event can awaken within us a stranger totally unknown to us. To live is to be slowly born.”
― Antoine de Saint-ExupĂ©ry

The quote above reminds me of today and this time in my life. I have committed to running the mini marathon. Keep in mind that my least favorite thing to do is run. However, my  entire team at work is doing it so I wanted to get in on it. With that commitment, the step of going back to the gym and the cleanse, I am counting this as my "single event" that is going to awaken this stranger inside me.

What single event is going to wake you up? And how will you feel when you have morphed into this wellness stranger and start meeting goals you never dreamed you could? So I am going to ask you to help me with my journey by starting your own today if you haven't in your life or if you have been absent like me for a few months. Join a sports league, start walking, add one vegetable to your meals each day, or drink 8 oz more water than you typically do. Just take one step. That is all it takes.

Talk with you soon!

Mirror

Hi,

Today was one of those bad days. We all have them. Either you didn't get enough sleep, you were late for work, you had a "fat" day, or just felt blue. You look into the mirror and you aren't exactly happy with what you see. There may be a reason for it or you might just be facing the insecurities that most of us women have, especially in our 20's and 30's.

My mom told me that 40's are the greatest. You get comfortable in your own skin and find yourself. This is a journey that I am on spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically. I guess you could say I am going through a mind, body and soul growth spurt. And like Kid President says about Robert Frost's Poem, "And it hurt man!" (Youtube Pep Talk)

I was reading a book that my mother in law gave me called, Simple Abundance: A daybook of Comfort and Joy by Sarah Ban Breathnach. At the end of the day that I read it said, "It is never too late for you to become the woman you were meant to be. Today you're one step closer to her." Wow! How empowering and so true?!

So what are you waiting for? Do you long to have a great shape? Do you want to become more spiritual? Do you want to be long distance runner? What woman were you meant to be? Now that you know, take the steps necessary to becoming her. You are strong, smart and have people that love you. Now start loving yourself.

Spring into A new you!

Hey all,

I don't know about you but these rainy cold days are bringing me down and I need motivation. Spring starts this Wednesday and I realized that bathing suit weather is just around the corner. The only question is, are you ready?

If you cannot imagine yourself in a bathing suit right now, it is time to get moving. First step, go to your pantry and fridge and either throw away or donate all of your unhealthy items. You do not need the rest of your whopper robin eggs, girl scout cookies or starburst jelly beans. You have been eating them for weeks now. Give it up. Sugar is poison.

Plan your meals for the rest of the week and run to the store. Do not wait until tomorrow. Get all of your meals packed up tonight.

Do a quick 15 minute high intensity interval training or 45 minute yoga to get your mind right today. Tomorrow bring your stuff for the gym or call your walking buddy.

Get online and pick out a bathing suit. Now work for that goal. Work for the moment when you put it on and feel great; where you look in the mirror and are comfortable in your own skin.

Quote of the day I got from a friend's motivational texts at work, "Impossible spells I'm possible."

Lets go!

Water

Starting today, lets try to drink 8 oz of water before every meal or snack. No excuses!

I saw on pinterest that Bob Harper from biggest loser says to do this to be skinny.

New Recipes and Workout

Hey,

Just wanted to mention a few new things that I have tried.

Breakfast Muffins: found on my pinterest
pour egg into a greased cupcake pan, then add toppings like - mushrooms, veggies, and meat, turkey used here. bake them in the oven at 375-degrees for 30 minutes and let them cool, pop them into plastic bags so that you can grab them easily in the morning.

--I took these to work with me all week. Great Idea!

Dinner: found on my pinterest. My husband made this for me and our best friends and everyone fell in love with it! We used chipolte red pepper hummus to give  it a kick. Yum!

Workout:
During your weight days, try to insert some cardio in to shed the pounds. For example, my trainer gave me an upper body workout. I do two moves (3sets) then do sprints, then two different moves (then run suicides on the stairs) then finish up with two moves. It is hard but you feel so good afterwards. I can really tell the difference in just one week!

Okay--I'll keep you updated with any new workouts or recipes I try.

Love yourself

Hello guys! Sorry it has been so long. I have been so busy with my two little angels and I do not have time to sit down for a second to post. I apologize. I miss my blog.

I wanted to let you guys know that I did not meet my goal of 16%. However, I don't think I want to meet it. I have had a realization lately which I will get to in a second.

However I am in my old pants before I got pregnant!!! I am so thrilled. It feels so good. And I also feel good about myself. I feel confident again.

Now back to the 16%.....I kept having my family and a few friends tell me that I was too skinny. I didn't like hearing that because as I have mentioned, my goal isn't to just be skinny. I want to be fit. However I realized that when I was at 15%, my lowest that I didn't have any curves. I was looking extremely fit and I am so proud of my discipline, however I wasn't looking as feminine as I think I want to look now.

I work out for ME and only me. But I also wanted an opinion from my best friend, my husband. I told him about a month ago, I am at 19% and was my lowest at 15%. Where do you find me most attractive? He first said, exactly what I wanted to hear. Good Job Hubby! "I like you the way you are right now." But then after I bugged him for a while he said around the 18%. This actually made me feel good. I will probably still try to do at least 17.5. But if I can fit into my clothes, feel great, and have my husband loving my look at a higher percentage, then I think I will stay away from the 15-16 percent for now.

One thing I have been working on so far in 2013 is the ability to love myself. Right now my legs are the biggest part on my body and I am working hard to shred the weight on them so my pants aren't as tight. But I thank God every day. Thanks for my ability to work out! Thanks for letting me fit back into my pants! Thanks for letting me stay motivated. Thanks for teaching me confidence. So, my message today is work hard! But love yourself while you are doing it! Stop for a second and be appreciative of the small victories and not so much on perfection.

15 weeks since my second baby girl was born and I am happy with my body! Go me! Go us! How is everyone holding up?

I read on pinterest: It takes 4 weeks for you to see a difference, 8 weeks for your friends and family to see a difference and 12 weeks for the world to see. ------Show the world what you can do!

Special Shout out to my friend Kelly for losing 6.6 lbs at weight watchers in one week. I am so proud of her.

Later,
